BIOGRAPHY

A native of San Francisco, Cindy grew up in Mill Valley, California where her father Dr. Earl Gilmore taught her to ride at age 3 1/2. Piano, skiing, tennis, swimming and ballet were also introduced, but it was the Horse which captured the heart and soul of this future artist. A graduate of William Woods College in  Fulton, Missouri with a BA. in History, Cindy moved to Denver where she worked as a graphic artist part time and devoted the majority of her time to her beautiful gray Saddlemare Rambler's Wild Rose. This mare Cindy would train, groom, haul and show to a World Championship in Louisville, KY and a national Championship in Kansas City.

Cindy moved to Woodford County, KY in the winter 1979-80. Upon the retirement of her champion mare, Cindy trust herself completely into her sculpture which began as a hobby living in Denver. Then in the late 1980's she purchased 18 acres of undeveloped land less than 10 minutes from historic Keeneland Racecourse. Here in the rolling hills overlooking a tree lined pond with horses grazing in the field, the artist has created an inspirational working area, studio and bronze production facility. Cindy is experienced in all phases of fine art shell bronze production having apprenticed for years in Colorado art foundries that produced her work. An association begun in 1985 with Chuck Quigley of Artist's Services Network continues to this day. Chuck has been instrumental in the development of her bronze production studio. He also pours all of Cindy's metal and is a valuable part of the production effort. Internationally known and famed for her meticulous metal finishing techniques, the artist does all her metal working and patina.

Frost & Reed, the prestigious London gallery has represented her work since 1981. In 1984 Cindy was commissioned by the Thoroughbred Racing Associations to create their Horse of the Year bronze ALL ALONG. That was such a successful project, the following year she did JOHN HENRY for the same association. She followed these up with a series of Eclipse Champions. The Appleton Museum, The American Saddlehorse Museum, The Kentucky Derby Museum, and Santa Anita Race Track host large collections. And the recently completed larger than life size bronze CIGAR graces the grounds of beautiful Gulfstream Park. Cindy is also presented in many international and important private collections to numerous to list.
